Very Slow Nodal Response

I don't know if this is just because I have started playing with more complex setups but I have noticed that the nodal display can be particularly slow to respond. A particular offender is the Atmosphere Group and its associated tab. Sometimes I can click and wait, click again and then repeatable click on the Atmosphere tab and the nodal display will not move or very jerkily jump to the Group. The only way to get to the Group is via alt r/l clicking and alt dragging in the nodal window. The same behavior is noticeable with the rest of the groups and the whole nodal window as a whole. My current scene whilst quite heavy on the shaders Group has only 4 atmosphere layers and is slow to respond.

Could this be due to my older graphics card, an Nvidia GeForce 7950GT with 512 MB video ram. I had not upgraded the graphics card simply as I thought Terragen made little use of advanced graphic features available in more modern cards although this was a decision mad via discussions about Terragens use of the cards 3d abilities re its 3D preview.

Has anyone experienced anything similar and has anyone found a solution.

Thanks

I've found a lot of slowdown when using the Reflective Shader.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Hi,

Does it get any quicker if you pause the 3D Preview?

Nope, this is not a constant however, sometimes it will behave quite well but weather the 3d preview is active, paused or the nodal view is maxed seems to have little effect.

Hi,
yep,i've noticed that too,not as bad as you describe it,though.Usually when there is
no response i have to click the button 2 or 3 times then it works again.

Seems ok if I am working in the main node windo but if I work on the nodes in the seperate node window there is a huge slow down inthe response.

Well I re-downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers and and re-installed and now the nodal display is snappy, very much faster than before. I'll have to give it a thorough workout to see if it slows down over time but I'm hopeful :)
