Cannot create a new Power Fractal

Hi, I am using the current TG Tech Preview 5 and I found a strange behaviour:

1) Start the program
2) Go to Terrain panel
3) Delete the Heightfield Shader
4) Add a Power Fractal

the new fractal is displayed (top view) on the right panel, but it is not added to the list, neither in the node graph, and repeatedly doing this thing, TG2 crashes with an "Invaled Operation" error... ???

I've noticed this before, no idea why this happens but if you delete the Heightfield Shader first then you cant see anything you add afterwards ... odd.

Solution : swap your steps 3 and 4

Hope this helps

Richard

ps I would guess that the crash is due to adding multiple Power Fractals, just overloads the system ....

yes, this does not cause problems, thanks :)
(I think this can be considered a bug..)

I've had this happen before what I do and maybe others here may do also, is add your Power Fractal before removing the Hightfeild shader; in this fashion then is it possible to avoid the aforementioned bug. You can get the Power Fractal to show up in this instance by adding it through the shader list rather than the Node Network, you should find that it shows up then.

Regards to you.

Hi,

I don't have TG on this computer ( for shame!  ;) ), but I think I know what might be causing this. It's a longstanding bug. I'll have a look in the morning to see if this is what I think it is, and if it is I'll harass Matt about fixing it already  :).

Jo

Hi,

I've had a look now. I'm not sure if this is the same bug I was thinking of, but it's very similar. The new node is being created, but it's being made a child of the Planet 01 node and is inside it. You can see the node in the Node Network list as a child of the planet ( click the Planet 01 disclosure triangle to show it ).

I'll bring it up with Matt.

Regards,

Jo
