Has anyone made any forrest pine type trees ?

I have seen a lot of christmass tree style pines,
but not the tall mostly limbless variety found in most forest.  ???
Hmmm... wonder what this button does....

You could always try making some.

<http://arbaro.sourceforge.net/>  The quaking aspens file should give you a reasonable starting point

A couple other varieties that are very similar, but I would love to see are oldgrowth Lodgepole Pine - http://www.fhsu.edu/biology/Eberle/PacificNW/LodgepolesSnowyRangeCW2005.JPG  and Ponderosa Pine - http://extension.oregonstate.edu/deschutes/forestry/images/Old-GrowthPonderosaPine.jpg

I'm sure that if you created enough variations and unique pine trees and sold them as a reasonably cheap pack you would get some interest.  The problem here being that you need quite a few different models as unlike a lot of the "christmas tree" type trees that look similar, all of these trees look fairly unique.

I have one that I got somewhere, likely as a tool for a job I was working on with an architecture student a while back, and it appears to be an XFROG file...it's called a Keifer which is German for Pine I believe. It's very tall and has no foliage on the botton 2/3. will see if I have a render on line and post a link if I do.. ...

Yup here's a link...

I know this type of tree by a more generic Lodgepole Pine, referring to their use in Construction and Shipbuilding and see a lot of them on the West Coast of Canada tho they may well just be costal and neither east nor west oriented.. ...

Here's a link I found searching Lodgepole Pine.. ...

And here's a page where if you submit a model you can dl a model...otherwise it costs $199.00 per seat to dl from there but you can dl 30 models a day...not too shabby if you have a great need for models and either not the time to hand roll them all, or not the skill to model them, which would be me for vegetation, heh heh heh.. ...

Well here's my attempt, don't bother with the heather ground cover. I'm fairly happy with how they turned out although they wont stand up to very up close and personal scrutiny :) If they're of any use to you I'll upload them this evening.

I believe I downloaded some tall pine trees a while back made in xfrog by Wallis Eck who still posts on xfrog yahoo. I don't know if they are still available though.
