Hi,
had some fun exploring the power fractal shader again.
Have a nice time,J.

Mmmm.  Chocolate.  And just in time for Trick 'r Treat.   :P
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

dandelO

Woah, I'm there! On a mildly warm day, when it begins to melt, with my sledge... scrap the sledge, naked, sliding along on my tongue! Chocolate skatepark, amazing!

MacGyver

My first thought too!!! Chocolate Wonderland, how beautiful it is! :D

Bloody hell...  :o Better not let my wfe see this, she'll be trying to book a one way ticket  ;D

Great render by the way, very inventive. The colouring is spot on.

 ;D Thanks guys,really enjoyed your comments. ;D

'sweet' lookin' render....yummy!

Mr_Lamppost

Ok, I know how to get those shapes using functions and displacement shaders but you say you are making them with Power Fractals????

Thanks inkydigit.

Hi Mr.L. ;D,yes indeed Power Fractals only.As a starting point try something
like this: scale 0/500/500;noise ridges;variation 12;buoyancy -(minus)12.
Happy experimenting,J.

Mr_Lamppost

Hmm I can get the ridges but am getting nowhere with the smaller scale patterns.  I am getting some other interesting results though, I never played with noise variation and buoyancy before.  :-[

I resorted to my usual functions for this candy/icing to go on top of the chocolate.

Only as I am typing this do I realise that you said you were using Power Fractals and I have been messing with Fractal terrain Doh!  Start again.  ::)

Ok got it!  ;D ;D 8)

Three simple nodes rather than a mess of blue boxes.   I can't do the mad colour thing but can add distortion to the basic Perlin pattern as seen in the small scale detail.

It's a shame the translucency is rubbish; the Lambert shader doesn't look to be doing much better.  :( ::)

Try insanely high setting, those always result in the weirdest but most fun results.
Howgh!

Yep,i've used four nodes for the above pic.Seems to be faster too.
As for the color it's basically the same as for the displacement as
far as i can remember now,i'll look it up and tell you more this
evening.
Translucency?...,oh well.At the moment i'm playing with a hoodoo kind
of thing and i'm getting anything from broken shadows to holes in the
geometry and cut offs, just like in the good old times.Let's continue hoping
that Matt will be able to fix these things one day.

j meyer

Here we go,the exact settings are:
scale 0/25/25;hi and low color checkmarked;color contrast 2,offset 0,roughness 3;
noise ridges, vari 12 ,buoyancy 12.5,connected to a default shader to get some
specular reflectivity.
