Having fun with tall mountains and misty clouds (two cloud layers)

A very interesting landscape, indeed. Is it a heightfield or procedural?
I really like your shaders, lighting and atmospheric settings.

Mohawk20

Great colour in the clouds, and great clouds overall!
Howgh!

I agree with everything.  Great image.  I expect something or someone to pop out of the mist.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Fantastic atmosphere and a great mist-like effect :)

I once thought about making a huge (in terms of height) but almost transparent, billowy cumulus to fake a thick but irregular atmosphere to be used for instance in some mountainous or sea scenes. Gotta try it someday.

No heightfield used, Volker. Terrain built using three Fractal Shaders (large, medium, and small scale). A Strata and Outcrops Shader  (used to subtle effect). And a Redirect Shader (X and Z displacement).

Hello John, very good work - and interesting instructions - sooner or later I will try to rebuild a similar terrain. A task!

By the way ... you should change the title and scrap the '(perhaps)' ,-)

Tangled-Universe

Another cool image John. Like the way you've built up the depth in this one.
The strata are indeed quite subtle! These types of terrains aren't really my favorite but I think you did a good job on displacements and surfacing, certainly looks interesting.
