Very original work! Great concept and execution!
I can't say anything else than it's great work :)

I don't know how to convince you that it's a real TG2 project other than to say it again. The only things not done in TG2 were:


  • The node models, I built them in Carrara. They were individually imported into TG via obj loaders, some are tgo'd already, not all of them yet, though. They were all positioned and arranged in TG2.
  • The 2 screenshots were taken in an app' called MWSnap. All it does is take screen captures.

The screenshots of the project were applied to TG plane objects to make the 3D-TG2-box that the scene is inside, I'd add the .tgd here but without all the node objects it would give you many errors.


EDITED: Here's the very beginnings of the scene, Calico. You've even commented there. It was all TG rendered then, and still is now. http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=4889.0 The only real difference to those previews is the background.

Personally I didn't need to be convinced about this being rendered in TG2.
I know how etc. Maybe that's Calico's "problem" with this ;D (please don't get me wrong here)

Ha! you know, I wish I could have rendered it in Carrara, it would have taken no more than 10 minutes. In TG this took 6 hours. Why? High GI and really high soft shadows, a soft shadow diameter of '50' needs a lot of samples. These models aren't as small as they appear, each one is about 120m across and the default shader model is 200m! ;)

EDIT: Model sizes.

Why didn't you scale everything down?

Usually I would but when I made all the models I had a base object that I just copied and edited in a Carrara scene file before they were all exported as different objects. I didn't rescale the base model to a sensible size before editing.
It was just easier to just use the sizes they were rather than rescaling all the models again.
And rescaling them all in Terragen was just another hassle I didn't need, too many numbers to fiddle with. I just built the scene around them instead of fitting them into a scene. I think it worked, anyway. :)

Ah I see...thanks :) So next time you know you'll have to start with the right scales from the beginning ;) lol
