Is there a site to buy plants other Turbo Squid? I don't like paying 30 bucks for 3 to 4 models of the same plant. Thank you. John Morris

You might want to check the download section at www.terragen.org to find some free plant models in the downloads section, but other than that you might try Daz or Cornucopia3d.
http://www.terragen.org - A great Terragen resource with models, contests, galleries, and forums.

I tried Cornucopia but can't export then in Vue 6 Esprit. I'll give terragen.org and daz3d.com a go. Again, thank you. John Morris

Its more expensive, but many Corucopia models have the node-unlocked version available. And (its been a while since I've been in Vue) doesn't Vue export stuff in at least one or two usable formats?

Just re-read that you are using Esprit...that might not export anything. I'm only referring to Vue-infinite.

The market for clip art and stock has exploded, and the prices have just dropped down to nothing. That will probably happen in the 3D model market eventually as well. For those that remember - for years and years the only real player was Viewpoint Studios, and their prices were OUTRAGEOUS. Even a shitty low-res fish model I had to buy was a couple hundred. They had a New York skyline that was around $4000. Funny, they're still around and now mostly they just hawk that ancient stuff from DeEspona.

Superb list there.

I was going to mention that Dosch also sells plants, though since they sell on their own as well as broker through TurboSquid, buying direct probably won't save much money. I think the site is DoschDesign or something like that.

Often times, for the long-term, you will save money buying something like Xfrog or Onyx/TreePro. Initial investment is high, but for lots of work it will pay off eventually. Depends on your situation - in mine, Tree Pro has paid for itself many times over... and Onyx's newest offerings include flowers and stuff as well. Can't compare to Xfrog's package, but from what I've seen firsthand, the Onyx software learning curve is non-existent and their generated trees and flowers are absolutely top of the line, better than what I've seen from Xfrog though that might have been just the guy who was using it didn't know how to get optimal results. I know the Xfrog package will ultimately do more stuff, but at the cost of a much steeper learning curve. Onyx's stuff is practically drag-and-drop, with very high fine controls but only if you want them.

Just another $.02...
