Here is the finished animation of the animation I mentioned in my last image upload. The quality is...not so good (colors are lost along with brightness, contrast and resolution). A lot of the detail was lost. If anyone wants to host the actual video just let me know  ;D. But here it is none the less. Post done in Autodesk Combustion.

bravo !
how long did it take to render ?

gregsandor

Looks good.

For hosting check out veoh.com -- I think you can upload up to 100mb files at good quality.

Thanks. Seth, it took about 145 hours to render. That veoh.com sounds great Greg, when I get to my computer I'll check it out.

Very nice :). We can also do this over at Ashundar/Terragen.org, like we did with your other animation.

Fantastic.  This reminds me of a movie I've been watching - "Serenity"
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Great choice ;). Have you seen the TV show it's based off of? It's called Firefly, and it's completely worth your time. I would also recommend Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog: it's by the same guy and it's a lot of fun.

...sorry to hijack your thread, by the way ;).

Indeed, firefly is a great show, a pity there's only one season.

On topic: very nice animation Stephen. I like the (atmospheric) haze density and its lighting. Nice camerawork as well. I guess adding some more variation in your terrain and maybe some water here and there as well would bump the rendertimes way up too much isn't it?
Nevertheless, great work! Would love to see something like this in 720p or even 1080p...even it is only 1 sec. :p

Very nice work. How did you achieve the lensflares from the sunshine? You didn't add them to every frame in post?
Looks great, anyway.

nvseal

Adding more terrain variation probably wouldn't bump the render time up too much but water definitely would. What I would love to do is add some clouds in there too and maybe add some fake procedural grass. I'm going to look into adding more to this later. I'm going to try to get the actual animation up which -- while not being 720p -- is 1000 * 400px. The next animation I will probably shoot for HD resolution. dandelO, I added the lens flare using Autodesk Combustion in post. I simply keyframed the movement. It was actually quite easy and only took about 3 minutes or so.

Hey old_baggard, if you are willing to host the file then I can email it to you when I get back to my machine tomorrow.

Mr_Lamppost

Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

old_blaggard

Yeah, go ahead and drop me an email :).

Cool. Next you want to zoom in from outer space then into a grain of sand.
