This is something that kind of evolved from seth's tut. I like it, but there's something it needs I can't quite figure out.

No offense meant, since it sounds simple (and is tricky) - lighting.  I'd try the Background / GI lighting experimentation.  Looks good, though.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

I'm inclined to agree with calico - I think there needs to be some kind of lighting - more rays perhaps? - in the foreground.

Seth

definitely light on the foreground... ^^

Here is the next installment. Much better, but might need some thing else.
Any suggestions?

Much better lighting, but we can now see that there appears to be trees in the water?

neuspadrin

much better for the second one, though looks populations could use a little shrubbery chopping ;)

lonewolf

Didn't notice thast when I posted that up this morning  ;D
Will have to address the distribution shader and sort that out.

After hacking away at the shrubbery for a while, I wiped the sweat away from my eyes to see that the plants were in fact on a little outcropping in the river. How silly were we!
Anyway, I like this version better, and I have 2 versions to get your opinion on as I saved in exr.
1. Straight out of TG
2. A couple of photoshop exr filters.

I think my first job is to desaturate the euclyptus collina a little, bit too fluoro for my liking.
Any ideas?

Oh.  This looks pretty nice.  Is there any way to create the Photomatix sort of expectation where we see the foreground as well as the background, regardless of the differing contrast?

This is really looking good now. I like both the new versions.

Incidentally, the background mountain - is that a DEM? Looks kind of reminiscent of Scottish mountains.
