Thank you for the tip Frank. I have used the Painted shader for distribution here; and, found that the repositioning of the sun made a positive impact on the vegetation.

Bob

You can clearly say that Bob. Those bushes look just great! They look like they "are really there"...very realistic, like it!
The big shadows on the terrain could benefit from some extra detail. Upping atmo-samples, but also and more important, GI might do the trick.
Great scene!

Martin
Thank you Martin; yes, will have to try your suggestions. I've been thinking that I have tried both a late afternoon and morning shot; now, maybe I'll try a nighttime build perhaps with a rising moon and some fill lights to give the moon some light on the terrain ...we'll see.

Nice images. I'm surprised no one has found the scale to be off though. For my eye those terrain shapes look a lot bigger than the bush size would suggest. I would personally do smaller bushes, maybe 1/3 this size. Would give a lot more scale to the scene. I think that would fit better especially with the big, dramatic clouds in the 1st image too. But a nice image regardless.

Thanks Oshyan, points well taken. I did try smaller vegetation; but, on the first image, I had a lot of over-reflectivity. The bush color setting was a Lampert; and, didn't have a reflectivity setting. After I mixed the bushes with some trees, I was able to reduce the reflections. I agree though that smaller vegetation would enhance the image.

I'm doing a night version of this now and will reduce the scale ...we'll see what happens.
