TG2 and Wine

Hi,

I believe those trying to run TG2 under Wine often have problems with icons in buttons not showing up, or even some controls not drawing properly. I've recently found out that Wine doesn't have a particularly good implementation of part of the Windows graphics system that I use extensively for drawing the aforementioned items ( DIBs, or Device Independent Bitmaps for those who are interested ). It seems to have been a longstanding issue with Wine. However it looks as though recently there has been some progress made so perhaps there is hope for the future.

Regards,

Jo

Dear jo...

what about Qt? now it is licensed also with LGPL so there is no need to fork out an obscene sum to use it commercially, it has a truckload of functionalities and works like a charm on Windows, OSX and Linux.

Obviously it would be a bitter pill to chew, but it would be a done-once-for-all business.

Bye!!!

I run T2 on Linux using Virtual Box. Check out this link:

The icons are a problem and the little colour boxes don't show. Also, occasional crashes happen. This has got better but I haven't used TG2 on Wine extensively recently. I could live without the icons but my main problem is rendering speed. At first it seemed OK but the difference in speed radically jumped with the multi core TG2. I have no multi core system (yet) but my system is HT which clearly renders faster with multi core TG2. Not so much so on Linux though.

Tested tg2 on ubuntu 10.04 box with wine-1.2-rc7, however...

It would be better to have a native version of terragen for linux...
