What's the big deal with temperatures at 57 C?

I'd say it's very regular temperature when you're rendering.

I recommend getting Scythe Mugen. It'll allow you to overclock C2D up to 4GHz with reasonable temperatures.

Personally I like the Ultra Chill Tech for about $100.

Yes, I'm behind on my quota.

Sorry, I didn't see your NewEgg link.  But...uh, I was reinforcing it.  Sir.   ;D

All kinds of fans are available at places like NewEgg and even Amazon, with reviews too.

Don't know if you noticed but the link I supplied is to newegg. I've done much research and this is one of the best fans out there. Or are you just posting to bump up your post total.  ;)
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

I have AMD processors. Those get hotter than intel by standard. When the weather is hot my full rendering temperatures go to 60-68 C, depending on the pc. The slightly newer cpu is a bit cooler...
Howgh!

My laptop's CPU temperature gets up around 96°C when rendering or playing games or anything.

That's why I call the Laphots rather than Laptops.  ;)

I bet that's like having a microwave oven open on your lap - probably not good for the gonads.  And stuff.

Maybe that is the core cpu temp rather than the bog standard cpu temp??

Hardware Monitor (Google it) will differentiate...

echrei

I'm using something like Hardware Monitor. The CPU and GPU Diode temp are basically the same. When I have both fans at 7000rpm and put the computer on an cooling platform with fans(using a modem power supply so they run super fast, and loud) the temp is only about 85C. The enclosure base sensor is only at 39C.

Hi, someone asked a similar question on the Bryce forums a little while back, here's the answer I gave which might be of help to you to:

"This might help you, it's from the forums of the company I bought my i7 PC from (I'd post just the link but you have to be registered to read their forums...) The posting is from the company's overclocking guru and it covers the temp's of the most common Intel processors...not sure what yours is? Where he says about running Prime95 I think you can safely substitute Bryce 6.1 running in High priority mode for the purpose of your concerns:

"The 2 main programs are Coretemp (Here: http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ ) and RealTemp (Here: http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/)

I recommend RealTemp for Intel Chips and CoreTemp for AMD Chips

Run the prgram, and if checking IDLE temps have no other programs running, and leave the PC for 10 mins without doing anything ad check temp - this is your IDLE temp

To check LOAD temp, run Prime95 Large In-Place FFT test for 30 mins, check temp. Ths is your LOAD temp.

These temps are what I'd expect on average, they are not completely set in stone and should be used as a guide only. Please read the whole post before panicking.

All temps are assumed to be using a Stock Cooler@stock speeds. If you have a better cooler expect better temps. Overclocked temperatures assume a V8 or better cooler is being used and temps are again not exact - expect a fluctuation of 5-10*C in either direction depending on your coverall cooling setup.

Bear in mind your case cooling has a large impact on cooling performance, if you have consistantly high temps and the steps at the end of this article do not help consider adding additonal case fans.

Intel Dual-Core C0/C1 Stepping

Idle temps: 32*C-40*C
Load Temps: 35*C-65*C
Overclocked temp max: ~65*C

Intel Dual-Core E0 Stepping

Idle Temps: 30*C-35*C
Load Temps: 35*C-60*C
Overclocked temp max: ~65*C

Intel Quad-Core C0/C1 Stepping

Idle Temps: 35*C-40*C
Load Temps: 40*C-70*C
Overclocked temp max: ~70*C

Intel Quad-Core E0 Stepping

Idle Temps: 25*C-35*C
Load Temps: 35*C-65*C
Overclocked temp max: ~70*C

Intel i7 Quad-Core C0 Stepping

Idel Temps: 35-45*C
Load Temps: 65-80*C
Overclocked temp max: ~75*C

THROTTLE Temps

When a CPU hits the temps listed here it will begin to trottle, effecting performance. If your CPU is hitting these temps follow the "what to check" advice in the next post.

Intel 65nm: 95*C
Intel 45nm: 85*C
Intel i7: 100*C

Mike"
