Something I started tonight and liked enough to probably work hard on it.  Still a lot to do, but I figured I should head to bed soon before I look at a clock and realize its like 3 am :P.  Stupid work in the mornings....

Currently playing with the background populations, probably will mix up the trees a bit more and the grass too.

After that I plan on working on the rock face a little, playing with colors and probably finding a nice image map for it.

Then the foreground bank, which will have a rocky/rubble area, and some tall grass.

It can get a better name once I get more in the name mood :P

How about "Riverside picnic with riparian entertainments" for the title. You can also add a bossy, older woman with her browbeaten husband in a boat. Naturally a dredge would be working where they are heading. ;D

Actually, you have a really good start. Keep tweaking. I'm sure it will be fantastic.

hahaha, interesting help on the title there... but actually i've had a theme past couple images ive had... probably gonna keep to that, just a matter of finding a fit.

anyways, heres an update, didn't have much time to play with it today after getting home from work, i had homework to do (this whole doing work AND doing online summer classes really sucks, no matter how much it helps my schedule once back in school since im working at co-op til December).. the whole positive of work is you get to head home and relax! (and the $$$)

anyways, mostly just played around with the cliffish area.  Still playing around with the background some too.  ignore that grass in the foreground, its simply helping me get size comparisons down.  Definitely need to work on my rock texture with the stripes.

You're not talking about our Hyazinth, are you? ;D Great, so I'm not the only one who's had the pleasure to know her...^^
About the picture: this is developing nicely. Like the improvements you've done so far. Not sure if a single plant in the foreground is realistic enough. And perhaps some stones on the shore?

;) havn't gotten to the work in the foreground yet...

The landscape is coming along nicely. Work often interferes with my time on the computer, but I do get a lot of time to think. I work 12 am to 8 am, so there is not much happening unless something really goes wrong.

Yep, the Bucketwoman.

For the title, how about naming it after one of your Grandparents. Like " 'Last Name Here' Creek". My Grandparents always liked to know they were being thought of.

This looks really great, maybe you can add some small fake stones, like pebbles, to break up the uniformity of the river at the shoreline. Other than that, looking NICE.

yep was already in my plans....

heres some more work on it tonight, got the nwda rock pack started up, and now playing and tweaking it... still quite a bit of work to do on it...

remember to uncheck "blend as stone density" in the fake stone shaders that have a blend shader, to get rid of the exploded stones.

Cheers,
Frank

Ahhh! Frank, that comment just made my day! I've been battling the exploding stones since I began using them.

The stones really help this image. I think an old log, half buried in the riverbank, set in the foreground, would nearly finish this image. It would be different also. I have not seen anyone use any flotsam.

ah thanks for reminding me what it was.  i had just added them in and bumped the sizes up so they would be somewhat right as the last thing before i stopped, and on the larger size i realized fanned as i was doing that render.   i knew there was a way to fix, just couldnt remember exactly what... thanks for saving me trouble digging for it :P

another nightly update ;) i'm going to keep working on it, but the full image render time right now is just over 45 minutes now for what i post, so probably wont get my changes + new render before heading to bed.

Quite a bit of progress though, started actually working on foreground.  I'm loving the hero stone :P takes a bit of editing to get it all good to go though, and still need more tweaking.

got quite a few more ideas of what to do, and tweaking to do.

Henry Blewer

It's great. I don't know what else can be done without over doing it.

I think I would decrease the density of the tree coverage across the river, just so that terrain becomes visible.
