It might be nice if you guys built in file association with the .tgd format to open up in terragen.  Just a thought. Also perhaps drag n drop tgd files onto terragen.

Actually I tried the drag'n'drop function today and wondered "hm, why don't they make this available?" But then again, I don't know if I would really use it and if it would save me any time though..
Learning history and science, wait,
Knowing that, will that put food on my plate?
Yeah, can I walk into McDonald's, into the counter,
And tell them you can make limestone from gunpowder,
Will they give me a cheeseburger if I know that shit?

Drag n drop for clip files would be handy, also objects maybe .... not really a biggy tho :)

I've been using the 'drag-n-drop' Windows function for quite awhile sometimes when I put a clip file or any other into TG2.

Hi,

Regarding file associations, I'll see if Matt can do something with the installer. Otherwise I'll have to mess with the Registry, which is something I've been trying to avoid :-).

As to drag and drop, I've just fixed an issue with drag and drop on Windows, so in the next release you'll be able to drag and drop files onto Choose File buttons in param views. You can already do this on the Mac. At some point I do hope to expand the drag and drop capabilities in TG2 further, for example allowing you to drop object files onto the 3D Preview or network view and have an appropriate action take place. It's not particularly high on the priority list right now though.

um I have always wondered about this too it would be great if we could double clock on the tgd file and it will open up in tg2

I'd like to be able to double click on it. Even if you associate the file with Terragen 2 through folder options and add an open command it still opens a blank scene.
Figured out how to do clicky signatures

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\tgd_auto_file]
@=""

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\tgd_auto_file\DefaultIcon]
@="D:\\WINNT\\Installed System Icons\\sysicon281.ico"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\tgd_auto_file\shell]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\tgd_auto_file\shell\open]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\tgd_auto_file\shell\open\command]
@="\"F:\\Graphics\\Terragen2\\tgd.exe\" \"%1\""

edit the last line by notepad in reg file associated.

I'll track my registry and Try to find something missing...
'cos I've never got problem with that ...I just double click and terragen open the project ...
*EDIT: you have to the regfile joined then double click this regfile it will register itself ...

I've tried it manually as well and it doesn't work, I've tried every way on the internet in fact. It'll open Terragen but a blank scene, it won't open the scene in the TGD.

You can change the default scene using preferences. Did you change the attributes in the icon itself? It would have to be done for every new save though.

I just checked the file associations in Vista. tgd files are associated with Terragen 2 on my computer.

Yes, it isn't opening the file when it starts right now, but it will for the next release. That's a separate issue to setting up file associations though.
