My last (not latest) surf scene

There was promise (on another thread) to include a surf/breaker/wave system in a future release of TG, so this is my last feeble attempt to get some sort of breakers. I'll just wait and devote my time to other things.
Rendering took awfully long, probably because I used tiny fakestones plus reflective shader as froth. The stones might need some work, like another colour added on top stones, or some vegetation, but as I said, it's just a test to get the surf right. I didn't really put a sky in either.

Looks really good Dune. Can I make a slight suggestion? The wet rock surface layer, could you break the reflection up with two instance of reflection, controlled by one PF, inverting the output to the other. Maybe putting a little more fuzziness on the altitude. The idea being getting two tones of wet, one just splashed, the other where the water has run away slightly, just so your rocks don't look as if they are made of glass. OR, give your kelp a slightly less reflection strength.

It's a great scene, and that would be my only suggestion.

Cheers

Actually, maybe I'm talking crap..

Here's a photo with a similar point of view. The rocks below are pretty much all reflective where the water has touched them, and there doesn't seem to be much run off. So I was wrong.

Maybe it's a matter of raising the displacement of the seaweed higher than the rock surface, it might be that there is no disruption in the reflection over the whole surface which doesn't seem right.

*Edit* Sorry to confuse anyone with the above photograph.

Just one word for both, fantastic!

I am speachless; it is almost a photo. Just make the sand somewhat was less "clean" and featureless maybe adding a shell or some kind of detritus in the lower right corner which looks "empty".

Bye!!!

?? As the second one IS a photo I think the first one really is a fantastic render!  ;D
Mouthwash? We don't need no stinking mouthwash!! [MI2]

You beat me to a response. I was just about to say that the second IS a photo, so you shouldn't be that speachless, latego. I wish I could make that surf in TG...

Dune

By the way, Hetzen, your suggestion about the seaweed is a good one. I'll try the 'double shine' as well. And while I'm at it, perhaps add 'your' sand, see what happens.

Hetzen

Sorry, Dune. I didn't mean to distract anyone from your work with that photo. I've amended the post to make myself a little clearer. But yeah, a little displacement offset could work.

Lol it just goes to show how many people just look at the images and take no notice of what's written.

Haha, yeh I was like that is the best render of water EVER, then i read the "this is a photo".  /sigh

soon we will be able to say its a render ;) just give it a few years of technology advances ;)

Henry Blewer

He got me with the fine print. I thought they both were renders. My statement stands, fantastic!

My favourite one was Lategos comment.
