Just thought I'd show you my first 3D Coat sculpt WIP. In fact my first proper 3D model of any sort. I can't be bothered with all that polygon rubbish. You only need to do that after you sculpt. This is completely made up from my head. No reference. I've been studying anatomy.

Of course this is not an example of something useful in TG2 but 3D Coat is definitely good for things that you might use in TG2.

New version of 3D Coat has muscle sculpting tools which I never actually used in this sculpt but they will be useful. Awesome app.

That is really impressive for your first attempt!  :o

Thanks.

I'm very happy with it. The secret is understanding anatomy. You have to understand all the proportions, bones and muscles of the human body. This is what I've been doing recently. I can now tell when people do not understand this. The key is understanding where muscles connect to bones and hence what those muscles actually do. You can then draw characters from your head that look like you drew them from reference material. For example if I wanted to draw someone smiling, I now know exactly what muscles do this movement. I come from a traditional art background which obviously helps a lot but the anatomy knowledge is new.

Looks very good. CG society had a great tutorial on making realistic skin material for 3D. If I can find it, I'll post it here for you.

Nice job! I've been following and tinkering with 3D Coat for a while. It's a very powerful program, although I still personally prefer to begin with low-poly meshes and then sculpt details.

Thanks. The skin tutorial would be interesting. However, with my machine I think I'll be giving the very detailed stuff a miss for now. I'm still using a PIV. I can texture paint that rather than try to do it in voxels but texture painting is a little slow as well. These limitations are good though. Forces me to work on general forms first. I'll upgrade my computer when absolutely needed. I'm getting away with it because his PIV has a Quadro FX card.
