DeathTwister

Waves at everyone,

Hay all, OK, I downloaded the file, I'll play as well in the next week or so I will post.  Have regular bizz to do and will work this in as I go, Very cool idea and I like the idea for the limitations and it should make people think of exactly what they want  to gain control of the terrain and app in general.  ahh now for some texture magic hahaha. /winks.  Need to read the rukles carefuly so we all understand the rules, I want to take each one as far as I can take it hahahahahahaha, /winks....

Having a spot of trouble with the froggie pack so will re-download it and see if it got foobared in the download, I will post in right place for that if I do not get it fixed, but I like this comp /smiles..... fun fun

I'm doing the final render now, had to lower the cloud and atmo setting alot but it still should look pretty good.

Oshyan

Will, what were your original cloud and atmosphere settings?

qualty one for each, now its like .6 for clouds and 16 samples for atmo, low but they should work.

I have been rendering for five hours now and I'm about 2/5 of they way done.

At long last, after problems with blocky clouds, getting the image and mask pic correct and 2 power failures, here is my entry. Cooking time for the final render = 7hr 30m

The terrain is as per the original but added Strata and outcrop shader, Shear and twist shader and an Image map shader (Pic was of a Fire cloud).

The clouds are Cumulus with an Image shader applied to the Density fractal shader.

Will

Neat, the clouds look almost painted good work!

Yes, the clouds do look good - was my first real play with masking clouds - learnt a lot - will try and use the inverse of the mask pic next time to see what effect I can get - it is a shame that we can not colour clouds at the moment

Could this be an attempt by an early civilization to build pyramids? :)

Here is a quick, quality = .25, render of my pic with the cloud mask inverted to show the effect

Now that I have had a bit of success with this mask I will try using what I call a rolly polly cloud - these can be seen at the front of some storms and roll over and over as they approach

22 hours...yeah!! Water shaders can be pure evil when applied appropriately. I need to learn how to post images other than that usual photobucket way...until then...

A quick update....and a problem....

can someone tell me whats going on with the population...there seems to be artifacts in my render..although the population on the right is different than the population on the left but the settings are same even co-ordinates...its just different plant model....
"His blood-terragen level is 99.99%...he is definitely drunk on Terragen!"

Will

Well heres mine, it didn't come out as well as I had hoped but I can't afore to spend any mroe time on it.

Nice render xanga!
I don't know what going on for your population though, sorry to say.

Nice foliage sonshine777,  how big is that pinetree 3d model?  It looks great.  Where can we get a copy, or is it orderable?

The pine tree is one I created in XFrog and the needles are in 3d (i.e. not an image) the model is 153 meg (all those individual needles) and I can zip it down to 57 meg. I will see if I can upload it to the TG2 section on the Terranuts site as a .tgo file if your are registered there you should be able to download it. (If I can upload it there I will post the link.) I do have the .xfr file at home (currently at work) and if you have XFrog 3.5 or want to download the demo you could export it yourself.

Let me know which would work for you. :)
