I have CS3 installed but I went to Adobe labs http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/pixelbender/ and downloaded Pixel Bender, it runs on its own. I just don't know if having CS3 installed makes a difference...

Down load this - Get the Pixel Bender Toolkit and the Pixel Bender Plug-in for Photoshop CS4   -Then install

Follow the instructions here- http://www.subblue.com/projects/mandelbulb

It works fine for me, hopefully for you to!

Sweet! It works in Quartz Extreme for the Mac! I can have this as my desktop background now if I want to kill my graphics card.

While this is not 3D, it's standalone and it's damn damn fast.

And I mean damn DAMN fast !

Get either one:

My Norton Anti Virus attacks that second file.  Tread carefully.   :-\
