so i  fixed the grainy image problem (the atmosphere quality was too low) but im lookin at the image and its missing that added realism

any input you lot might have would be fantastic, ill include the TG2 file aswell so you can look at it in TG2 if you want.

i cant really describe the problem, it... it just doesnt... you know, like the eyes on a stuffed critter... if they dont look right it dont look real you know... theres just something not right...

i rendered this at quality 1, GI supersample prepass and surface detail on, about 1.3 million trees populating it (shoulda scaled em up but w/e) antialias 3, gi detail 2 samples 2 or 8 whichever is default.

1920x1080px (only took 3:50 hours, was well impressed with render speed)

I think it is the high vibrancy of the colors you have chosen. They would be better a little blander. Think about the tank models you may have built as a kid. The paint colors for the camouflage were drab.

The only other thing might be the cloud scales. They seem too small. They can be adjusted using the density shader, which works like a power fractal.

Keep working, this has a great POV. It will not take much to get this perfect; it's almost there now.

I have the same issue with my photos. I look at some of the work by the terragen masters and I just wind up hating my own pictures even more. No matter how perfect you set everything up, somehow it still seems "rendered" and not "photographed". I'm not sure how the gurus do it, but I know it can be done. Perhaps the new aperture settings in 2.1 will help. I'm on here looking for info on how those settings work.

Good luck.

Here is one of my Terrains. It's a desert scene. I like to keep my tgd files (terrains) fairly simple. Maybe it will help.

I think you should scale up the trees, the cloud fractal, and the water scale. Also, there should be some ring of sand, rock, or wet ground (made with reflective shader).
They just issued a tornado warning and said to stay away from windows. Does that mean I can't use my computer?
