I was searching for an introduction area but unfortunately I couldn't fine one here (pardon me if I missed it). So yeah this is basically an intro thread.

You guys can call me arch and I just started using Terragen (2) yesterday. It is really amazing. I really don't have a 3d background, though I do Photoshop and Lightroom and some other creative suite stuff. Other than that I'm just a programmer.

So well first question here, why does my water body (lake) never appear even though I've set the altitude correctly? Am I missing something?

Sometimes it happens that the water level and center point of the lake aren't the same so when you change the water level, the center point remains the same and thus the actual position of the lake does not change.
