Extrude, scale. rotate if necessary...the new Blender 2.82  Made from a tutorial about same.

They are out and about to see what they can see....

Cool ships! You made them in Blender? That's rad. I need to sit down with it one of these days.

Thanks WAS......like you, I have some sort of ADD, ADHD, claustrophobia, dyslexia.....or just one stubborn brain. This is all self diagnosed for me as I am smart enough to hide whatever it is for most of my life; but I know it is there lurking....haha. I finally just said, "ok some things are gonna just take longer." But I am glad to know, it ain't just me when it comes to Blender and TG. :)

Now....how do I put night vision goggles on TG? In the movies....night scenes are all bright and pretty, ships sparkle in the sky, clear as a bell. I tried spot lights....ugh. maybe a weak sun with no shadows? Any hints?

The last one remembers me to the early X-files ;)
I'd personally try to play around with Bloom- and Starburst filter and leave the rest as it is.
Maybe you need higher luminosity for that.
And it's a petty that there's no particle animation effect in TG so far. That would be sooooo coool :)

Yes, you could add a high, weak sun with no shadow, or use ambient occlusion instead of default GI, or increase exposure in camera (try 5 and then decrease again if too much).

Blender has so many macro things and tabbed away things I always forget.

I wonder if you made things "lightly" luminous, and crank surface lighting strength in enviro light you could get close, than just make that gray/green in GIMP/PS.

A very light haze layer with Atmosphere Bloom would probably help too.

Trying some changes in IOR and roughness also

A wing arm hallway of space base......Made with Blender 2.83

Open to comments on how to soften reflection on metallic in TG render  I have perfect reflection but would rather have a brushed shiny look?  Is this roughness value or IOR?

Blender render uses area lights and emission value on light shader of object, TG render uses light source and luminence value on light shader part of object.

hallway dark is Blender render

hallway with Astra is TG4 render

QuoteIs this roughness value or IOR?
Both. You need a high IOR (10) for metallic surfaces plus high roughness for the brushed look. A reflectivity shader may give you more control (if you aren't using one already). Is this path traced?

You're doing some really cool modeling. :)

Coming soon to a planet near somebody......ATV rover made in Blender 2.83  4 wheel drive and independent suspension for extendable axles. wheels have special tract covers for rough terrain. Solar panels keep the battery unit charged and radar antenna transmits images and scans.

Perky reflection on atv body with just the regular object shader....woohoo!

Thanks DocCharly65!  Just havin some fun!

I had my cataract surgery finally a few weeks ago. Now I am waiting to get new lenses so I only work a few hours at a time lately.

Here, I made a portal post (in Blender 2.83) on a hillside that serves as an entrance for space travel. My version of SpaceX rocket. No....I am not entering the contest... :P I tried to duplicate something I saw in an image.
I have to scale this and get some better textures on these models.

As always, mhaze Columnar Rock Study in one form or another. ;D Ground mist cloud. Hannes's old nebula file buggered up, came with TG bonus pack file.

Nice sky and ambiance. I wish you a speedy recovery. I had surgery on both eyes for cataracts last year and all went well. It's not easy to have your eyes incised to have the crystalline lens removed and then replaced with a prosthesis. Fortunately, this type of operation gives excellent results.
Title: Re: Fun Stuff
Post by: Dune on June 22, 2020, 01:22:20 AM
I think working at a computer(screen) won't do much good for eyes.

Have you ever tried using a very low resolution (heavily compresssed) jpg as terrain basis? I once experimented with that and it can give some interesting results, if accompanied by further displacements.
Title: Re: Fun Stuff
Post by: luvsmuzik on June 22, 2020, 09:35:10 AM
I think I shall have to gray up the terrain, this is too warm.  ;D

@Dune "I think working at a computer(screen) won't do much good for eyes."  Too true, I am making quick adjustments and setting to render, wearing sunglasses indoors some days, since we have 16 hours of daylight lately, not complaining about that tho ...  8)

Not sure about that, it emphasizes the alien-ness (if there is such a word!) of the scene. The textures are coming along nicely, too.

Hope you recover quickly, too. Till then don't overdo it!

Is that the mission with the drone? If so maybe you can have it flying overhead. :)

Nice modeling, again. A couple of suggestions, maybe bevel the sharp edges of the rectangular shapes slightly so they aren't knife-sharp, and subdivide the curved meshes to make them smoother.

Cool sky, too, BTW.

Nice! If I might make a small suggestion . . . maybe lower the camera and raise the angle of view to include a bit more sky, then lift up Ingenuity so it is silhouetted against the sky, to show it is truly airborne. Now at first glance – before your eye sorts out the perspective – it looks as though it might be resting on the slope of that distant hill.

Too bad there is no camera blur for objects! It would be nice to show the blades spinning somehow!
Title: Re: Fun Stuff
Post by: Dune on July 05, 2020, 01:19:09 AM
There's a trick for blurred rotors/blades, but you'd have to replace the rotors by a blurred rotor texture on a plane, with a non-reflective glass shader in front of a masked surface shader carrying that texture in TG.

Late to the party on the latest render with Ingenuity. Great work here. The models look nice too. I downloaded one from sketchfab but it had sooo many parts.
