a while back on here there was a Thread about City Engine... the price was pretty high.
now they have a version called "City Engine Indie"
oh thats interesting, bookmarked. Thats a nice thing for smaller studios and one man shows ;-)
after i try the trial version i am probably going to get a copy of City Engine Indie, now that the price is more reasonable for me.
funny thing is, just recently a friend of mine asked if i could create a sci-fi themed city render for him, he's willing to pay me, he wont be giving me a deadline either. :)
(with terragen2 of course) :)
that would be a nice project and its always good if software pays off ;-)
Looks good and it is very tempting (even as a hobbyist) however it is missing some important features at this price point.
No ERSI file support
No FBX or Collada
No Renderman or Mental Ray
not much in the way of scripting
Full feature comparison (http://www.procedural.com/purchase/commercial-solutions/comparison-chart-commercial.html)
So its good that the price has dropped to a reasonable level but I'd be very interested to see some work created in it (and rendered in Terragen) before I shell out for it.
i'm satisfied with the obj import (at the moment)
looking forward to trying out the trial version, once i get this contest done. :)
were calling project "Tampa 11,776 A.D.", its his vision of his hometown in the year 11,776
i also have to model several existing & planned skyscrapers located in the tampa area.
went by the procedural.com website just the other day, and looked at the purchase page... at the bottom of the page it says the trial is fully functional, i guess that means you can export right? last time i looked it said export was disabled in the trial version...
need to try the trial...
