This source is very fine yes....

I´m looking at the moment for Babylon 5 ships, expecially the White Star....I found it at turbosquid, but not the textures...

I like bio-organic ships....they´re so cool....

Thanks O_B I'll post some of my grass and tree models there when I finalise them.

Another thing that may be helpful are some "template" TGDs for certain objects. To give an example, I use Bantam 3D grass to create different grass models. Rather than resurface each model I just open up a TGD with an old model and then replace the OBJ import. Arbaro also outputs standard groups (trunk, stems and leaves) which would benefit from such a template.

Just so people know, we just added six new models over at Ashundar:
http://www.ashundar.com/list.php?c=models

Again, if any of you are modellers, please feel free to submit your models.  They don't even have to be vegetation - other things you think might be useful in TG renders are just fine.

Hey old_blaggard-

You might need to test that Nautilus submarine object..when I render it, its all black :P

Or are textures not included? If so, my bad then :P
Title: Re: Resources for 3d models etc
Post by: king_tiger_666 on March 23, 2007, 08:12:01 AM
i see what you mean. the directory path for two textures is wrong. some link to the folder the obj is in, these four don't

C:\cws Folder\Meshes\Nautical\Nautilus\Obj\plating bump2.jpg
C:\cws Folder\Meshes\Nautical\Nautilus\Obj\steps_bump.jpg
C:\cws Folder\Meshes\Nautical\Nautilus\Obj\steps.jpg
C:\cws Folder\Meshes\Nautical\Nautilus\Obj\dark.jpg

heres a copy I've updated the links now it looks like this, maybe someone can update the zip file too?

Title: Re: Resources for 3d models etc
Post by: Ogre on March 23, 2007, 08:58:19 AM
Seems like the textures that you have remapped in the image above are not scaled.  See the read me file

-I needed to move 2 of the textures (plating.jpg scaled to 0.0181 and plating_Plain.jpg scaled to 0.5) to an Image Map shader to get the required scaling of the file. This also applies to the bump maps for these shading groups.

-When importing the object initially the 2 textures mentioned above will not import correctly the texture file will need to be re-pointed to the correct file and the diffues colour will need to be increased greater then 0.  (I assume this is a bug where TG2 is not reading the scale paramater (-s) correctly)

if you are allowed to share the star wars models, www.fsphost.com (http://www.fsphost.com) has 250mb free unlimited traffic:D

I dont know if I am allowed to share or not....because I had them for long long time (about 2 years) and I dont even remember where I got them from...I downloaded them so I guess I can share them because at that time I was in no position of buying them....will post the link as soon as they are uploaded...
Title: Re: Resources for 3d models etc
Post by: dhavalmistry on March 26, 2007, 10:51:20 AM
Files are uploaded

2 parts (2 x 48 MB rar parts). you will need both parts to extract the models

they all are in max or 3ds format....and since I have vista (3ds max doesnt work on vista  Undecided) I dont really know if any of them have textures or not, but looking at files....most of them do have textures

and if anybody is kind enough to provide me with TG2 compatible format of the models (not all of them, just the ones in buildings folder) would be appreciated.....enjoy the models....

FREE OBJECTS - http://free.daz3d.com

Click on Free Model Archive or Free Bryce Archive  -  Objects are objects

Careful, though, if the object requires a purchase of another object.  Dependencies usually matter.

no...its a two part rar files (split volumes)...you need both parts to extract

also make sure you have the latest version of winrar (3.70 Beta 4)

I should have made some mirrors....I am uploading them to different sites right now

**EDIT**

Download any one of these 2 mirrors..

On the quirky side, there's DOGA:

http://www.doga.co.jp/english/ (http://www.doga.co.jp/english/)

It's a snap tools sort of modeler.  I believe the unregistered version allowed snaping together premade spaceship parts, not sure what the latest version is like, since I got an education 1 year license for 3DSMax ($100) and have been soaking in it...

Someone named Anton Kisel created a character called ApolloMaximus for Poser.  It was very expensive, but he's now giving it away for free.  Whether you own Poser or not, this is too good to pass up.  The downloads are very large - http://www.antonkisieldesigns.com/

I wanted to separate it into two parts, but the obj always appears as one object....no way to separate parts neither in poser nor in blender (okay, poser is very new to me. Maybe I haven´t found the right option....)
any idea?

Here is an Arbor and two Wisteria models that I created and posted on TerraNuts (Just got approved). ;D
There is a wisteria that fits on either side of the arbor so you can do one side or the other or both. The wisteria
is created using the Ivy Generator program and a modified leaf that replaces the ivy with wisteria blossoms.

I wanted to use it but I have the problem that there are more than 16 shaders....and I´m not able to reduce them cause the lighthouse appears as ONE object in Poser....I can´t deactivatre or group any textures.....

Can someone help me with tha please?
