Title: Corrupted atmosphere - rectangular artifacts (known issue or workaround?)
Post by: khayy on February 06, 2015, 11:13:06 AM
I am seeing these ugly rectangular artifacts in my final render. Attached image shows a few examples cropped out.
Anyone seen these before and know if there's a known issue here or something obvious I can change to fix this?
Toggling ray traced atmosphere shadows made no difference.
Similar scenes rendered perfectly well in older versions of Terragen so not sure what's up here...I might start a test of this scene using an older version If  I can.

Rendering using Terragan 3.2 on Windows 7 64bit.
4096x2048 spherical camera.

Thanks

Try turning off (or down) the Acceleration Cache on the Optimization tab of your cloud layer(s).

Initial tests show this seems to work.  They were all on conservative.  Off might be increasing the render times but the squares are gone which is the main thing.

Thanks!

Glad that worked. Usually the acceleration options work fairly well, but they're adjustable for these kinds of situations where it doesn't work so well. Most of the time you can fortunately count on a decent performance increase with the settings at Optimal or Conservative. :)
