Title: Painter shader 'Eraser'
Post by: choronr on June 10, 2009, 05:14:12 PM
I've noted that when using the 'eraser' in Painter shader, my .tgd file size will increase from 681 kb to 0.99 kb. Then, after a lot of work I'll save the file; and, I try opening the file again and it crashes. I'm thinking that I must delete the population and start the population all over again and paint the mask again and avoid the 'eraser'. Anybody else have this problem?

Hi,

The "eraser" is actually a kind of negative brushstroke. It adds more information rather than removing it. It tells the painted shader where it shouldn't draw. There seem to be some problems with loading the painted shader data from the file once it gets over a certain size, which you might unfortunately have gone over. We will be looking into this very soon.

Regards,

Jo

Thanks Jo for getting back. Yes, I've started the population over again and now have a better sense of where I need to create the population. Another thing I noticed when using the eraser was that that the object 'bounding boxes' would still appear on the erased areas after re-populating. In fact, there were still traces of the objects-erased areas after applying the erasure.

I guess being more careful when painting is the key to avoid problems. The mask applied when starting the painter would be great if it were 'somewhat lighter' so you could better see the terrain details (or, a larger preview). For now, in any event, I'm glad to get back to this image and look forward to completing it.

Thanks again for your help.

Bob

When using the eraser and moving the mouse very rapidly seems to crash TG2 repeatedly.
