yes, its a while ago I had to use a floppy, needed it for one of my dell servers some years ago. Actually I sill prefer the good, old datasette ;-)

"Datasette" - was that the english term or was that "Germanized"?? I don't clearly remember.
However, I remember having had one of those, too. Waaaayyy back. Tells me how old I have become. Damn.

I have no conscious memory of punch cards, though. I saw a couple when I was little, but storage for me started with tapes.

well, I really don´t know, but on Wikipedia there´s an english entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commodore_Datasette - but perhaps here´s a native, english speaker who can remember that piece of hardware ;-)
I can remember a game, I think it was Hanse or something similar, which loaded almost 30 minutes.

..and when you saved something, you always had to manually write down the counter ;-)
Then came a 5 1/4" on my Commodore128 and my first 3 1/2" drive actually came much later with my first PC (80486 I think)

I started writing programs using punch cards. My Dad's company had a DEC computer which used punch cards. I had a 'Datasette' on the Commodore PET, VIC 20, and The C 64. I got the first floppy drive for the C 64 in 1984. I built a five megabyte hard drive for my Commodore 128; it seemed huge at the time.

My first computer at home was a 286 in nearly 1991-2 .If i remember correct it had a 3.5" and a 5.25" floppy drive with 40 mb HD and 2 mb ram .
The first time i looked at it at home i felt  like Star Trek come true

i think the last time i used a floppy drive was in 2003, & that was for a college course, i was using a imac at home though.

i felt the floppy's couldn't hold enough space for me...

I still occasionally use floppy disks, to get files from my Win98 computer to my XP machine, then I can use a flash drive to get it to 7.
