dandelO

I'm a bit obsessed with Egypt, Pharaohs, pyramids and the likes.
Here's another Giza scene.

Cheers for looking! :)

Awesome smooth desert there. I don't know how realistic the reflection is, but the surreal effect is quite enjoyable.

Very cool. I have a friend who would love his image. She's ancient Egypt obsessed.

Cheers, folks! :)

Z: There were at least 3 different variations of the sounds of the hieroglyphic letters in 'dandelO'.
These ones go; Hand, forearm, water, hand, vulture, lion, quail.
The only real liberty I have taken is using the forearm hieroglyph instead of the vulture for 'a', as I have used the vulture for the short 'e'(both are valid but the forearm properly sounds 'ay/ai', not 'ah', while the vulture can be used for both  'ah' and short 'e'). My ancient Pharaoh name then is 'dayndelO' so, yes, you're correct. ;)

The signature is actually meant to be drawn in the sand with negative displacement. In final tweaks before hitting render, though, I moved my camera to tilt more towards the sky as there was nearly an exact half sky/half ground POV. I fixed the POV but neglected to readjust the signature image so, it's out of shot. Damn! :D

Cheers! :)

I also am into ancient things and this is cool....the sky symbol closely resembles "Ra" or "Ray" I believe...the sun god. You should have placed your dandelO space patch there...:).
I really prefer central and south american pyramids as they have a more jungle apperance rather than desert....still, the Egyptians were exceptional builders. More please...and maybe a Mayan jungle theme???

Beautiful!
The mummy returns (again... from China)

inkydigit

excellent scene, is that the eye of Horus?

Thanks, folks! :)
Aye, Markal, Inky: It is the Eye Of Horus/Ra/Wedjat/Edjo/etc.

While yous are all here...

Does anyone else find it a little strange that throughout the entire ancient Egyptian's documented history, from tomb paintings, to artifacts, jewellery, everything, really, there is no mention of pyramid structures? No references to the building, or even simply the presence, of these great monuments? I can have my head in knots over this.
Plenty of symbols of animals, Pharaohs and their coffins, Gods, amulets, I haven't actually pondered this until recently, I think it very, very strange, were they built long, long before we imagine? I've read and watched some striking stuff on this, dating their structure to around 10,500 B.C. which most Egyptologists strongly deny, other respected people think otherwise, though.
There are also records of 'doctoring' and faking graffitis and tomb contents from the 1800's, was there even a race of Egyptians as we imagine them? Absolutely fascinating. The entire subject of this civilization simply boggles me.

Cheers, again! :)

I'm coming in late, but wanted to also say that this render has a very nice feel to it. Well done, Martin!!

That IS Strange...   :o now you have me thinking deeply about this too.

I do find that their not mentioning a World Wonder very odd. I think they are far older than 10,000 years. Smaller pyramids built by them may have been mimicry. There may be more evidence of an older civilization in the Sahara under the sands. But it is also odd that satellite imaging does not show this. Maybe they exist in more than our universe. We have the end which is broken.

It does boggle the mind but I don't get how the absence of them in the paintings, jewelry and things like that suggest an earlier construction? If they were built later the absence would be understandable but earlier?
A more likely cause of the absence could be that the pyramids are tombs and maybe the depiction of a tomb was prohibited or something.
