Hi
as a Terragen noob These are some of my first renders that i have done that are not purely experimental.
If there is feedback I would love to hear it, Be it harsh or kind![attachimg=#]

The water and clouds are nice. Some more global lighting may help. The fake stones (rocks) need some color and displacements added.
Try downloading a few tgd files from the file sharing area. Look at how the Shader tab is used and the nodes connected. This will help with everything done with Terragen 2.

Hey thanks man !so the displacement on the rocks is that the Power Fractal Little Node? also I have another question. I would want a Program where I can personaly design Relistic Looking terrain and import it into Terragen 2 Other than just Black gray and white hightmaps. I was wondering if Geo Control or World Machine 2 would do the job But it seems like they are just procedural terrain generators.
Regards!

I have used the free version of World Machine. The output from is loaded into Terragen 2 from the Terrain Tab. Use the height field load operator.

Basically, I set up my surface layers first. Rock for the steep hill parts. Then Sand, for the less steep areas. This surface layer gets smoothing, depends on what I have in mind. Last, the grasses surface layer.
Next I go to the rock surface layer and add a power fractal. This is for color variation. Almost always I use the same power fractal for the displacement. I keep the scales where they do not overwhelm the surface. Then just go down the various surface layers.

I set up a new surface layer for the fake stones. I tend to use the same colors as the rock surface layer.

After that, it's just tweaking with redirect shaders, strata shaders, more power fractals. The above will give you a nice start.

Major displacements should be done in the Terrain Tab. The principles are much the same.

The second version is quite good except for the stones. They look out of scale.

Try Wilbur.
They just issued a tornado warning and said to stay away from windows. Does that mean I can't use my computer?

quarkphotonect

Hi!
Thanks For all the Help!! And Feedback!
just 1 question How do I limit the Distribution of fake Rocks?

Hi
I downloaded it and it seems To be Just what i Want!! thank you!

For distributing fake stones, you can either use the blending shader input on the Fake Stones node itself (plug in a Distribution Shader, Distance shader or Painted Shader) or, for extra control, plug the Fake Stones into its own Surface Layer as a Child Layer (so now the Fake Stones will only appear where the Surface Layer does, which can be constrained by Slope Angle or Height) and then also use the Blending Shader input on the Surface layer.

Wow!!! So With Practicably any thing can be controlled like that on Terragen 2?
It is so awesome ! everyday i learn more and the program becomes more and more to me!!!

quarkphotonect

It worked!!!
Every day! i get more and more control over terragen!!!
Thank you soooo much!!

domdib

You're welcome. TG2 is such a flexible program that there always seems to be something new to learn  :)

Hehehe yea!! I upgraded my computer to get better terragen Performance just recently! hehehe
it is sooo cool!!
