Posting this picture mostly to get some suggestions here. For example, the rock is quite smooth. Any idea of how to put some texture on that rock? If anyone can tell me how to improve the picture (especially the rock), it will be appreciated.
Heard of computer graphics? CG? Terragen 2, the landscape generating program, also known as TG, a whole cool way to create realistic CG - with TG.

have you tried using a very small planet instead of a rock?
that might be easier to texture?

You might also take a look at my rock object example page; http://sites.google.com/site/d4nd310/simplerock

Hopefully there's something useful for you there. :)

thanks for the input

I made a different render, using dandelO's link as a guide and made a different picture. I changed the color for fun. It looks more now like a red meteorite. It has a reflective layer and also I used "use smooth normals" to make the rock lines more smooth.

No. 6 rowed furiously. The coast was almost out of sight; this time (damn it) he was going to escape from the Village. But then, as if out of nowhere, the red monitoring balloon was upon him. He let his oars dangle uselessly in their rollocks, and wept bitterly. There really was no escape.

Can be imagined as one of those slightly deflated balloons in that classic series. Good work.

I hope I realise I don't exist before I apparently die.

They just issued a tornado warning and said to stay away from windows. Does that mean I can't use my computer?

Neat. Try increasing the atmosphere samples next. Get rid of the lake object and replace the Base colors node (Shaders tab) with a Water shader. That's what I do to make water that goes to the horizon without dropping off.

well here is the same picture with different water and also different clouds. I decided that some terrain would be good in the picture so I added that as well.

Neat. Try increasing the roughness on your terrain.
