It's been a very long time since I've posted anything here due to my summer job but alas, I am now free to Terragen once more! The inspiration behind this picture (and its name) comes from one of the key locations in J.R.R. Tolkien's Silmarillion. Tumladen was a secret valley of everlasting green surrounded on all sides by an impenetrable wall of high mountains. This is my first go at it; as always comments and suggestions are always appreciate.  :)

Nice foothills-with-mountains-in-background scene. I like the foreground grass deployment too. Could use one or two more different tree objects to break up the regularity of the ball-shaped tree.

I hope I realise I don't exist before I apparently die.

Love the background mountains - procedural?

Gannaingh

Thank you! I'm currently working on integrating at least two more populations of trees into the scene to add some variety. Also, the background mountains are just a simple, single alpine fractal without any adjustments on my part.

Looks nice! Curious on your new variation , darthvader1  :)

inkydigit

it is beautiful, especially in the foreground, the background is also good. but they seem disconnected...
good work all the same!

Thanks everybody! I agree that the background seems a bit detached from the closer hills; fixing that will probably come after I am able to nail down the nearby vegitation. This second version has four tree populations although one of them is barely noticable and wil probably will be removed to same some render time.

Very cool, as usual. The grasses and mid-distance tree distribution look fantastic! Nice one, Darthvader! :)

domdib

Even better - now there's more sense of depth as the trees are not quite so densely packed. The grass in the foreground is already good, but I think it might be improved by a bit more variation in shade, perhaps some deeper, more saturated greens. Excellent work!

amazing update it looks real! i love the trees! (but i don't have those) :D

I really like this one.

Personally.... I would make the haze a little less dense so we
could see those beautifully background mountains a little better.
