Does anyone know whether Blender 2.49b has a smoke simulator? It doesn't appear to have one to me.

Thanks!
Jahnu
Heard of computer graphics? CG? Terragen 2, the landscape generating program, also known as TG, a whole cool way to create realistic CG - with TG.

I'm not a blender user at all but I've seen some excellent results online. It has an award winning fluid FX simulator and I'm sure that could be leveraged to create smoke effects. Then it would "just" be a matter of finding a suitable smoke shader.

I believe the smoke simulator came into picture in the new release. Atleast this has been my assumption from the feature videos some time ago..

I know Blender 2.54 has a smoke simulator - in the physics panel, there's a area that says "Smoke" right there. Not so 2.49b. It seems everything 2.54 has in that area is in 2.49 as well, except the "smoke" area.  ???

Yeah I remember reading about it in the develpement blogs. If I remember right the smoke physics simulator came into life in 2.5 alpha build

There are ways to make 2.49b make smoke. It's not worth the effort with the volumetric options in the new release.

The smoke from 2.49b is 2D. Basically a cloud texture mask and color both animated in the 'right' direction.

I see. It seems much simpler to just make smoke in 2.54 ... ?

I have not tried it. Go to the site, BlenderNation. They have links to very many 2.5 tutorials including the smoke sim. Here is  a link to one of them.

I already know how to make smoke in Blender 2.54, I was just wondering if it was possible to make smoke in 2.49b.
Thanks though.
