Beta release of Lightworks Open Source Non-linear editor

You can download it now(Requires registration) . It is in Beta stage and has obviously some problems.
But it is good to have alternatives.

cool!, i'm glad someone is doing this, we've got open source programs like blender, and GIMP, and now this, Lightworks.

I was looking for something like this the other day so this is great. However.... when I start the software, it loads and
then it shuts down like I never even started it. Why is this? Anyone else having similar problems?

Yes it has such a problem. Go to the software folder and find this exe  " ntcardvt.exe " .When you start this exe it should work.
Some users said that after this first start you can start it from the standard shortcut icon without problem.

I had exactly the same problem

Apologies to all those who have experienced the application exiting straight away running up for the first time (in particular users of Windows 7 64-bit). patch_10.exe (now available) addresses this problem and we have taken the opportunity to include a few other fixes as well:
