The Domes

Managed to use 3.5 gig memory rendering this with so many plants.

I'm using the Alpine Fractal, not function nodes, to produce the cracks on the rock domes which are planet objects.

Chanced upon an Alpine configuration that does make cracks, however Terragen likes to change the values when I save and then
reopen the file. Took me a long time to figure out why the cracks appeared in some renders and not others.
Then I saw that the values for  smallest scale will not always stick around and need to be re-entered before rendering.
This is the first time I've had values change like that. Fortunately they are legal during the render, just,
apparently not always legal to save. Not sure if it is a great method, but if there is any interest I will post the configuration.

Tried to use some population color variation ideas from the forum on the domes, however in the
foreground the bushes are a combination of two renders in slightly different colors, mixed
where desired in Picture Window Pro, where I also adjusted levels.

Birch - Xfrog
Pines - Walli
Canoe - Sunshine777
Crape Myrtle - Marc Gebhart
Bushes - Mr. Lamppost
Poplar - HelenTr
Vetch - ?

It's hard to judge the scale of these domes. The boat helps, but the waves may be too large. It's difficult to get them perfect; it's one of the reasons I tend to flatten out water.
Keep working, the landscape is interesting.

Nice mood and landscape , Fleetwood  :)

I like the landscape and sky(did you do them in one render?) very much!
I am not sure but the trees , bushes (the object too) do look a little out of place!

I rendered the sky and ran out of memory in the water area. The sky was about a 30 hour render. So, to save time,
for the land surface trials I set the remaining renders to no atmosphere.

Eventually, I used the early render of the sky to combine back in.
The clouds have a slightly different contrast level than the rest.
They also do look a little oddly patterned to me at the left horizon, but that's exactly how the distant clouds meet the land in the
original render.

I had in mind an area of Spring blooming plants along flood water in a basically
arid region.
Probably got carried away with trying out plants. Likely it would be hard to find these actual
species at the fringe of the desert.

Thanks for the detailed explanation , Fleetwood !

I had the feeling about the sky and landscape but there is no problem of comping .
The big studios do this all the time and i am not a purist too about this all the time.

It is all for making a good image  :)
