Questions about unarchiving Xfrog downloads

My apologies if this situation has been addressed before. I do my rendering on an i7 chipped iMac and I'm slowly coming to terms with TGD. I downloaded and rendered a few Xfrog plants and liked the results. So I gave them my $149 and purchased the USA Conifers package. It arrived as a .7z file and after some researching I was able to extract 8 parchive (.par2) files of varying sizes using Ez7z.

At this point I'm stumped. The free plants I used before weren't zipped in this format, so I'm a little perplexed about the way forward here. Are these usable files in TGD? Should I use a different unarchiver? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I haven't dealt with the downloadable versions of the plants. Xfrog would be the ones you provide official support on that. But I do know that PAR files are archive "recovery" files, so it's odd that those would come *out* of a .7z. Usually they would be downloaded along with it. What should come out of the archive are model files and textures in various formats. So perhaps the extract process is not working or the download is not complete.

.par2 are indeed recovery files. However, they might be accompanied by normal .rar or .zip files.

Google for "Quickpar" to open (one of) the .par2 files. It should automatically check for integrity.
Sometimes, depending on how its set up, Quickpar merges the files into a new file. Probably one you can use.

Quickpar etc. is very common in torrents and usenet etc, but I guess that's off-topic ;)

Thank you all for the help.

The problem has been resolved. It was a corrupted file.

Getting a clean download of the 1.56 GB file on my antiquated DSL connection was problematic at best. On top of that, Xfrog seems to have been having server issues too. It took 3 or 4 tries, but I finally got a clean download. By that time, Xfrog had a DVD on a Fedex overnight shipment.

My contact at Xfrog was pleasant and very responsive. He made sure everything went according to plan. So thanks Planetside crew and thanks Xfrog.
