Just a bit of fantasy/SciFi mixed into a terrain I created long ago topped off with a cracked stones file by T_U; vegetation models by Walli; and, a model from my friend Thelby.

Dune

I like this a lot. Beautiful lighting and subtle waves of cloud. The rocks look like ancient coral sticking out. The two things I would do is enlarge/add rougher sand in the flattish areas between the rocks, and subdivide the tree (you can see it's subdivisions).

Very cool. I like how Walli's old pine wraps around the obelisk. I also like the bushes which cling to the cliff sides.

Forget Tuesday; It's just Monday spelled with a T

Thanks Ulco, I will do a cropped section of the dead tree/monument using the second model - I think that will be an improvement. Also, will check out the sand portion.

Thanks Henry, the dead tree is actually a part of the obelisk model. I'll post another version soon.

Here is a re-do of the obelisk with dead tree...

Looks very cool with that chrome metal ball. What is it?
Probably a lost artifact from the civilization of Atlantis ?!  8)
Real nice graphics and details. I like it
CONGRATS!

Thanks Max; as for the chrome sphere, you tell me and we'll both know - hence, the title. Actually, the chrome sphere is fairly easy to make with a sphere object, fake stone; and, a reflective shader.

Dune

This tree is perfect, Bob. If you move the chrome ball slightly up, it's like the final claws of the tree try to grab it or hold it under a spell. Now for some sand and you're done!

Walli

very nice!! And the background is veeeeery well done

Thanks Ulco, I've tried to add some sand texture and reflectivity to the sand to no avail. I like the ball idea which is easy to do; but, if I can't do it all, I'll just go on to the next project. This has been an enjoyable project with satisfying results (which don't happen too often). Thanks to all who have provided great information and files.

Thanks Walli, your plants and trees play a big part in helping us to enhance our work.

Cool work Bob.

I wonder what happened to the stones? That clipfile is pretty old and I'm pretty sure I would make it totally different now, technically.
It may not work properly anymore. If you wish I can take a look at it.

I agree that the background is perhaps the strongest feature in this image. It looks VERY realistic!

I like the sand though, it's very smooth. You could try adding 0.0025m stones in different grain colours to simulate sand.
(beware that the suggestion of 0.0025m stones is based on the assumption that you're using real world scales)

Cheers,
Martin

Hi Martin,

Thanks for stopping by and for your suggestions. Here is the .tgd for this image. Hopefully you can come up with a better way for adding some better ideas here ...appreciate it.
