Nice billowy rock formation. I have tried for this look, but have not had this much success with it.

My preference goes out to nr. 4, as it has these subtle layers in some rock outcrops. It is incredible much better than your first iterations from Feb 2010, Inky. Great rock! Are they warped fake stones?

no these are not fake stones... just a fractal terrain with very large scale voronoi and warped 3d perlins with similar smaller scale displacements....I still have a lot to figure out here, some things are not behaving in the way I had expected.... I will keep you updated....

these are some very interesting rock formations inky, fantastic stuff 

reminds me of ayers rock, only much more crazy displacements.

i cant pick a favorite, i like em all

I like number seven best with the overhang. Now, if only you could find a model of an 'Anasazi' cliff dwelling to place under that overhang ...great work Jason.
