...some more experimental rock, using voronoi and power fractals in various combinations of scale and displacement....still a work in progress, but I feel I have learned a lot from the build process...
thanks for dropping by and taking time to view/comment etc...
cheers

Interesting formation! Looks like it wants to expand to me :) Nice!

Tangled-Universe

A lot better than your previous one IMO...especially like the low frequency-ness of these structure. Nice big smooth rocks!
How many nodes this time ;) :P

Cheers,
Martin

freelancah

Very cool. Colossal thingy!

Dune

Massively great! Although there's nothing really to eye the size, it looks huge and overpowering. The effect would be terrifying if you put some village or trees under the overhang.

Marcos Silveira

It seems higher than the Everest!! Great formations!!!!

thanks for the input folks!
the next iteration is cooking as we speak....

The rock shapes you are getting are interesting. I don't know how you are doing them but absolutely ages ago I posted here:

http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=7095.msg75443#msg75443

This is a method to blend the rocks with the ground. It should be a good way to get your giant rocks and no sharp line to ground. That was the point of my experiment in the thread. I'm not going into details about how it works. It is is not perfect and there are some things I wanted to add feature wise. Nobody seems to have picked up on this angle. At present I'm using Linux and no working TG2. This may change because of an app called SAI that I want to run and it fails on Linux wine. I may get Windows 7 and have access to TG2 again. Whether I use TG2 is another matter but why has nobody tried to mess around with the graph I put on that thread?

Themodman101

Dude thats freaking sweet! Looks like cloud rocks!!

Thanks efflux and Themodman101, @efflux, these are based on a 3d perlin terrain...I will dissect your tgd and see if it can help...looks very promising, thanks for the reminder!
