I found this wonderful sheer rock face in terrain I have been working on this past week.  Could someone help me figure out how add some colored layers to match some of the strata?  I kinda want a basalt over sandstone over limestone, or something similar.  Any ideas would be appreciated.  The colors I am using now are Inkydigits rock colour shader 02, thanks Inky.

You can use different surface layers. Use the altitude constraints in the altitude tab. Just stack them by height range.
By using surface layers, you can add more complex color variations and displacements by the rock type.

very interesting structure, I am glad that you have found these shaders useful!
You can always insert that clipfile twice, and adjust all of their colours slightly for some more variation, you could also add them as a child layer to a surface layer and add some slope and/or height restrictions as well as coverage etc....

look forward to seeing more...

Thanks for the information.  I will definitely try out some of your ideas.

This is an updated image for this thread.  I changed some of the colors, added a distant water feature and added plants ( prickly pears and grass).  The colors are more to my liking, but still not the banded layers that I wanted.
