The grass distribution now is controlled by a merge shader (merging a fractal and the road mask). This sure is something I will use in the future. The tracks are more visible because of this. Also the color of the road was changed slightly to compensate for the changed lighting.

Actually, I was so pleased with it that I decided to do a final render at 2400x1800 last night; it's on it's way now (estimated render time 20 h or so).

Here's the final render.
Still a few small things , like the hawkweed, that can be improved but I'll move on to the next project. Thank you all for your input!
