My first real render with terragen 2, spent quite some time creating shaders and sky mood. However, I can't figure out one thing, at upper left section, the peak seems to be somehow cut off? :/ Super pass doesn't seem to help Once I get this figured out, I'll render it at a much better quality (higher aa etc).
Got a new pc system which can handle it much better. ;) Sweet system I'd say! Any feedbacks are appreciated!

inkydigit

a good start!
the black area is 'broken displacements' caused by: extreme; too small or too large displacement values.

Dm7

Thank you inkydigit! :) Ah I didn't know, I'll have to explore on that issue.

To anybody else, I won't be able to work on it again for other few hours at least so... other than that displacement issue, any C&C/idea is very welcomed!

Dm7

Um, here's what happpens when I play around with it. It has evolved to this.. more shaders and tweaks. Entirely different mood, but I think I'm beginning to like this type of style. C&C are welcome. :)

Interesting! The first was interesting too but i like the second one much more.
With just a little less cloud displacement it would maybe look better.
The line in the middle of the mountain looks a little odd to me too.
But you have a image with great potential here already , Dm7  :)

inkydigit

second iteration is very cool...agree with toning down the clouds(a bit)...the line is a fractal artefact...try using a different fractal maybe (perlin for instance?) or a different seed?
cheers

your second render looks pretty good imo,
nice darkish atmosphere, clouds
good surfacing and displacements

my suggestion would be to render it larger if you can.
WARNING! WIZARDS! DO NOT PREDICT THE BEHAVIOR OF OTTERS UNLESS YOU OBEY BIG HAPPY TOES.

Yes I've rendered it at larger size, but then the cloud artefact became more obvious. :( You're right, there's some error in it, I have tried to fix it with no success. I even seeded it to see what happen and still am having same error. I think it's due to depth fractal I assigned to the cloud node. And it's perlin too. I thought maybe extreme wrapping was what made it look like that, but playing with it doesn't seem to solve it either. That's when I hate being a n00b. Haha!
At the bright side, hopefully from experimenting with that, I'd know TG2 from inside & outside. :P

Thank you very much for your feedbacks and suggestions! :) Keep 'em coming! Help me be less n00b please. lol
