Converting DTM into GeoTiffs or .ter, a readable file for Terragen 2

Hello,

I have been endlessly researching how to convert DTMs into GeoTiffs or .ter on a Mac preferably (though I have access to a PC temporarily). I have read numerous threads which are at least 2 years old and searched many sites which hasn't helped me a great deal.

Effectively, I'm trying to get the following DTMs into Terragen 2 and would seriously appreciate any straightforward advice on how to do that.

http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/dtm/

I'm on a Mac using 10.5.8. If there is a simple bit of software which is PC based I could use suggestions for that as well, failing a Mac option.

Thank you for the link, Erwan! I had read that thread but it left me confused as to how you managed it. Did you post the tutorial you mentioned somewhere else by chance?
