I started on some waterfalls to try to get the principle working. The terrain needs more work of course, and the placement of the falls is quite crucial and dependent upon the shape of the terrain. Will be continued...

Oshyan

Rather promising. What's your technique?

A couple of simple shapes, and 2 water shaders (one for vertical parts with stretched foam and one for horizontal parts), but on the same rivers. The water takes the same shape as the terrain, so to speak. The river needs to be less canal like, and the rock wall needs more 'bump' and nicer strata. I will also try to warp the outcrop and strata shader, or just use stretched PF's for it, or the blue node thing that was in the forum some time ago.

Tangled-Universe

That's looking very promising Ulco ;D

Is this for our collab? ;)

If it is for our collab then don't worry too much about the rocks and strata and such. I like doing those :)
Unless you have something else in mind for me!

Hi Dune,
This looks to be a great start! One of the first things I wanted to do when getting TG2 was something like what you have here. But I read in the forums some place that it was pointless to try. Guess not 8) I did find a Tutorial on using clouds to make a fall, perhaps you can use it to add mist to your falling waters? Anyway, If you master this don't hold back on a Tutorial, I think just about everyone would want to see that.
It has been eaten.

TheBadger

Was typing when T-U was.... If you two are working together then I say go big (victoria falls big) and make the falls animated ;D
It has been eaten.

@ Martin: I'll be glad to send you the files as soon as I have it like I want it. Then you can go loose (it was indeed started as a start of our collab). But in the end, I will probably put this basic technique on NWDA (I must have something now, don't I? ;-), so I should at least have something worthwhile by myself.

@ TheBadger: I know about the cloud technique, and I was indeed planning some vapor at the falls base. And Niagara size... no problem with this technique.

choronr

Send me about a liter of your creative juices ...man, this is a great project ...looking extra fine so far.

Dune

An update, but run at too high specs, so I cut him off. Mistakes anyway, such as rock pocking through the two right falls (I know why), not very nice soil and the rock face could do a little easier on botox. I need to change the trees as well. It'll be perfect (and more so if Martin is going to get to it).

Tangled-Universe

I'm going to get it? :)
Awesome!
I already have some ideas!

mhaze

Impressive start.
The top edge opf the falls bothers me - this is generally very white where the light falls on it not black.  I also find the falls too streaky and lacking in bulk.

Dune

Noted and I already changed the foam distribution. Nice examples, although some are not my kind of thing. Especially the last two must be possible... with a little refinement. Wait and see what comes out next.

inkydigit

 :o 8)
looking really good so far....
:)

Dune

Getting better, but I haven't got it yet. The problem is that the falling water can't 'see' the rocks at the water's edges. It might be solvable...
