The 'Chill' image is a culmination of most all of the elements contained in my last image 'Autumn Reflections' ( http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=13597.0 )  except that it is a winter scene that used the following additions:

•   Overcast sky/clouds by FrankB available at the Planetside forum.

•   Big Pine model by jcinbama which is available at Ashundar downloads.

•   Ice flows - Thanks to both dandelO and Dune for their files which were used here to create the broken ice in the water. These can be downloaded at the Planetside forum.

•   Fog - Thanks to Mark (Thelby).  From time to time, he and I trade ideas and files. Initially, I had worked on the fog, localizing a cloud formation with set coordinates. After repeatedly re-seeding the clouds numerous times looking to achieve the results I was looking for, I gave up for a day. Mark had heard from me regarding the issue and sent over a file which after viewing was a perfect fit. He used a method I have used in the past which I should have thought of in the first place.

•   Refer to other elements mentioned in the  Autumn Reflections thread.

Enjoy.

Great image, Bob! The fog looks amazing, the light too. Not so keen on the ice in the river (too apparently voronoi), but overall, very well done :)

Dune

Wow, was my first thought. Very nice atmosphere and great wisps of mist indeed.

When I look closer, I would make some changes. The grass is very light, almost illuminated, toning it down to a more dead color would do it good. I would flatten the ice more, or if it's a lake with ice chunks, I would make a less even distribution, perhaps more near the edges. But I think it would look good with quite flat ice, some irregular white 'less transparent' ice, and CRACKS. Maybe a few chunks of ice raised above the average sheet. Or make it all ice except for a warped voronoi hole in the middle.

That is; if you need my opinion...

this is stunning Bob, and I agree with Frank and Ulco; with only some small changes to the ice and the vegetation in the foreground, this will be amazing!
can't wait to see the next version!
cheers

Oooh yes, nice. I would add another mountain just left of centre, in the background.

Thanks Frank, maybe reducing ice coverage will work ...we'll see.

Thanks Ulco; agree about the grass. Had brown/gray grass in the previous iteration - should have kept it. Many possibilities with the water/ice. Will play and see.

Thanks Jason. Will play a little more and maybe do just a quick render ...we'll see.

Thank you. Just a little more experimenting here; then, on to something else.
