Hello,

Can you guys tell me when its a good idea to raise or lower the render settings in the objects tab?

For all of the plants I have seen on this site or friend sites, plant objects when imported, give the option of changing the render setting from "low to ultra"
Plants imported from IvyGen give no such option.

What should I know about this?

Thanks guys

Point of view and distance.  The quality of your objects are less important from meters away.  All things considered, usually the ultra is not necessary, in my experience.  Everyone has different experiences, though.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

I think you are talking about the render quality on the populator. This only applies to population rendering, and only when ray trace objects is turned OFF on the render node (i.e. using the micropolygon renderer). If ray trace objects is ON, then this setting has no effect.

Just because milk is white doesn't mean that clouds are made of milk.

And, in general, it's recommended to enable Ray Trace Objects for speed and quality.
