Well here is something I did tonight, one of my first creations with Terragen 2  ;D

Hope you guys like it, I worked really hard on that planet.

Any tips for making authentic planets? Particularly getting the power fractal to fit to a sphere? It is hard to explain... I guess when you look at a planet photo things distort near the poles.  Perhaps someone will know...

I toned down the colors in the second, and added the r0man photoshop brushes.

I love science fiction, always have alway will.
Image 2 is vastly better IMO... What brushes did you say you used for the solar flares?

Welcome to the forums by the way.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot... Did you paint that background? if so you may like to search *backgrounds* here in the forums and try rendering the background instead, you may find you like it better.

Looks nice! But would like to see it a little bigger  :)

TheBadger

Sorry, one more thing... If you do make a larger image as Kadri suggests, I can composite animated flares I made, and animate the shot to have movement. I would just need an HD size image to work with... Could be fun to see your image move. Just an offer, no worries.

Here is a link to the flare I made, what you will see is a title slot from my demo. But just think about the flares.

I did render in full HD, I thought this forum had a file size restriction, so I resized in photoshop with bicubic sharper setting.

The brushes were by "r0man" I found them via a YouTube tutorial:

Thanks for the comments, I will upload the HD to my deviantart account "elipsis01"

Oh and the background has the Gaussian noise stars and some flare brushes. The big swirls are the r0man brushes.

Hey elipsis1
Checked out your gallery on DA, some cool stuff there. I found the image above like you said. Do you happen to have the image with out the paint work? To make the animation work I need a render with no post. and ideally a version with out the planet. 2 versions, one with planet one without, and no post.
If not no worries, I just think it will look cool animated, and be fun for me to do.
Let me know.

Sure  :D I can do that. I'll try and do that tonight. I let you know when I upload them.

inkydigit

very nice concept and realization!
:)

@TheBadger, I uploaded the two images to my deviantart account.  I'm attaching here too.

It will be cool to see what you do with this...  ;D

TheBadger

Hi elipsis1,

I will be working on this in my down time from other things, so give me a few days. I think it will look cool.
