TU The apprentiece version is actually free but the version that is able to render HD level videos is not, still it's very cheap and good offer Ive been doing experiments with the V12 that was just released and the speed improvements are extremely nice. Did this yesterday as a test...took a walk outside and it was done when I came back.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnycL-Q2iHw
Very cool animation test.
T-U,
just get the free version now, this way we can trade files back and forth. If it helps good, if not, delete.
I will say I looked at a lot of 3D before I made my cheapskate choice to buy houdini. And while I have only done the UI introduction tutorials, I feel much better about getting into 3D with Houdini than I did looking at other software. Besides, we are not trying to master it, just use it as a bridge to TG2, Freelancah can lead us through that part. And if you like how it goes you can by the HD version for your portfolio version of this project. Or, we can each render the parts, and composite for each other based on the the software that we each have. I'm not sure it matters yet, first things first... Terrain, and we all have TG2. I will compile my ideas for the terrain and and how I was imagining it can be done to your and freelancah's inboxes now.
Just my 2 pennies.
