Most application we use cannot use this many cores, however as it is mainly for Network, Cloud and I suppose could be tweaked for a renderfarm. If I was going to get something I could use for my applications I would just go for one the Dual AMD Opterons from http://www.titanuscomputers.com/category-s/70.htm
