First, are you exporting the trees from Bryce as ".obj"?
It look like Bryce builds the tree with the vertical zero point as the midpoint of the tree. I like to use Lightwave on the obj model and set the tree to zero in the y axis with a simple press of F3 and choosing the y axis (Bryce tress will have to be lowered a little more so the roots are below the ground.)
I then save it as a Lightwave object (lwo) and import it into Poseray. If you search "Poseray" in this forum, you will find several threads covering this free application. With Poseray you can correct most mesh problems.
Poseray can also save the material (in this case images) along with the mesh to a folder, which is convenient.
I didn't have the time to mess with the texturing, but a quick load into TG2 gave no errors and it positioned the tree to the ground.
