OK, you're right. It needs several things: different POV, it's very 'liney', straight. It needs some banding, strata, different hues to different rock layers, and I imagine they could be quite dramatic. And the wet water's edge (if that's what it is) can be less high, as the water is very still. And perhaps some dry shrub at the water's edge.

I agree.

The shot would be fine in a sequence. but as a still its not very dynamic, it makes you want to turn around and look for a better view.
