C&C please.............. :P

Henry Blewer

Well done mushrooms. The other is moss? It's pretty well done. I have tried to make moss and lichen, without success.

Quite good as procedural moss.
For a closeup it´s not perfect, but just a little further away it could be fotorealistic!

Mushrooms look good. I'm more interested in the ground. Whats going on there?

Is that a texture or procedural? I am guessing that its a texture, but is there displacement or bump?

Its interesting.

Badger,

Actually it is a texture map, but there is also displacement as well as bump. I did a lot of fiddling with settings of the texture map (diffuse, specular and roughness, and bump). Doing another render with a slightly different POV.

TheBadger

Looking forward to the new POV on this one. I suspect that the texture will strengthen as you move further away.

For the image used on the ground, can you tell me the pixel size, and file extension.
The texture looks really nice in the areas directly near the base of the stems. But gets stretched at the tops of the mounds. There could be a way to fix that.

Ok, thats something like what I was thinking. I believe that we could get that up to 4000x4000 pretty easily and still be sharp. Larger if necessary. let me know if you want some help on that.

Also, Does everyone use .jpg for this stuff? I thought everyone decided they did not like .jpg?

i like the mushroom textures
though the green terrain/fungus is a little blurry.

for me it depends on the quality of the jpg, but
i prefer to use either png or tiff

Nope. Pretty  much use PNG. Better resolution

TheBadger

Ok. thanks. I use png on my models too. Mostly because when I was first learning to model thats what the instructionals told me to use. .png has the transparency built right in, or is the alpha... Don't remember now... Anyway the quality was clear. Can take a lot longer to save out a 4000*4000 psd to png over tiff and jpg though. I built my mushroom scene with .png. Its one of the reasons its so hard to work on. Files are so large my computer runs out of memory if I use wireframe preview with more than a few objects turned on at one time.
